An international Symposium for the Classification of Brackish Waters, sponsored by the International Association of Limnology and the International Union of Biological Sciences, was held in Venice, 8-14 April 1958. From it derived the following statement on the classification of marine saline waters. The complete proceedings of the symposium are to be published soon, prcsumably as an IUBS colloquium.
